Actually a misspelling of “misery”. The countryside has its charm, but stay away from St. Louis – a tourist trap surrounded by slum.

The country highways of Utah are a place to experience the magnificent openness of the West. I remember fleeing the dawn along a two-laner at 5am across southern Utah, finding out how fast my little Ford Focus could go. When you descend into a valley at 110mph, looking out on distant mountains, and ten minutes later you’re still in the valley, still holding that speed, still staring off at the same scene, you’re truly “out west”.

Rather like Oklahoma City.

I lived here for seven years though, so I might be biased.

A southwestern version of Indianapolis.

This is a great place to visit once, if you’re passing through Kansas. I don’t know that I’d suggest hanging around too long or ever going back again.
