How this place changed my life
I was lucky enough to work here for a semester. I signed on for the Disney Internship in 2001 when I was 19. It was the best experience of my life at that point. The day after I graduated from high school I began an intense summer program @ Purdue university. After finishing a year I wanted to take some time off and decided to do an internship. I chose Disney because I had never been there b4 and I loved Florida. So I signed up for a fall internship. I lived with several other students at one of their apartments they set up for us. I lived at Vista Way with 3 other girls.
Whenever we were bored we played in the parks because it was free for us. My favorite was MGM studios because they had the most rides and I loved the stage performances. Animal Kingdom was nice and so was EPCOT. I didn’t really like the Magic Kingdom and the people who worked there said it was the worst place to work. I worked at the Contemporary Resort working in corporate events planning so I didn’t work with tourist I mainly worked with the corporate clients, acting as their liason. I loved it basically our dept. planned and threw parties for corporations and conventions.
Even though Disney is in league with the Devil, it still does hold a little magic in this cynical heart of mine.
The best part were the people I met by far while attending the program. We are still friends to this day. I loved the night life in the city. Pleasure Island was also free to cast members on mondays and thursdays and it was always poppin.Universal is not too far either and it was much better than disney it’s geared more towards adults. I had fun but I wouldn’t live here. It was a good time while it last but it is a nice vacation spot for a family with kids!
