Nice college town with plenty of places to kick back. Northwest Arkansas is actually a beautiful area, particularly in fall. The state gets a bum rap. Undeserved, I say.

I headed here with a friend from Vienna, mostly because we got incredible prices for our flight back to London from Salzburg. The train ride from Vienna in mid-December was absolutely beautiful, and we went up into the mountains around Vienna and toured the castle/fortress of the city. Incredible. We hit a beautiful Christmas market/festival and helped ourselves to good chocolate and good beer. Highly recommend it.

Want to see a fantastic true Texas honky-tonk? Hit the Pop A Top Again on 291 south of Johnson City in Blanco. One of the best jukeboxes around these parts. Cash only, bottles of beer, pool and shuffleboard, and the place smells like scented candles. Wonderful people, too.
