Alaska, United States

Untitled

I’ve been to Alaska twice. The first time was on a vacation and we neglected to notice the scale on the map. It took way longer to drive to Denali from Anchorage than we thought it would! Still had a fantastic time. The last time I was there was the summer of ‘98. It was still fantastic but I was there for work and didn’t get to enjoy it as much. The weather is fabulous in the summer and the scenery is spectacular! Do the drive from Anchorage to Homer or Seward…it’s just gorgeous!

Piazza San Marco, Venezia

Untitled

This is my most favorite place in the world!! Especially in the evenings when the light hits St. Mark’s Basilica just right and the orchestras are taking turns playing while couples, young and old, are inspired to get up and dance. Get a glass of wine or a gelato and just sit and people-watch…..aaaah!

Wandering Venice

My best friend and I went to Venice in Sept ‘05 and can’t wait to go back. I have a tip about Venice….don’t just stay in the tourist spots….wander around!! Yes, you will get lost but that’s the beauty of it. Of all the wonderful things we saw in Venice, one of my favorite memories is of when we were just wandering and came upon one of the small squares in the late afternoon. We were tired and a little hungry so I sat down on one side of a statue and my friend went down a small street to get a few slices of pizza to bring back. Just as she was coming back a street musician on the other side of the statue started to play, filling the square with music so beautiful that I just sighed with contentment. It all seemed so perfect….a quiet piazzetta with my best friend, beautiful music, some pizza…just watching Venice go by. It’s about the simple things. Sure, go and see all the tourist sights, esp St. Mark’s Basilica, but be sure to relax and get a little lost. I promise you will find your way back again.
