Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is a great place to visit if you’re in the area. Definitely a lot different than other places I’ve been to!

Ushuaia

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

We went here for a day… it was mostly b/c I wanted to see the “end of the world” but it seemed like it had some cool things. First, the boat ride on Beagle Bay was cancelled due to the weather- supposedly, it’s amazing. Second, we went to the National Park and it was ok- very different that anywhere else I have been. I would suggest that if you go here to make sure you’re ok changing plans or doing nothing. It also seemed like the place to be if you’re a skiier or boarder but we didn’t have time for either. Coincidentally, we met 3 people in the first 10 min with broken wrists. If you’re up to chill and get away from it all and possibly get to see some beautiful things, this is the place for you. Personally, one day is about perfect.

Lima

(in Peru)

Worth visiting!

One day, not even

I had about 10 hours in Lima on a layover from Buenos Aires. I planned it that way. It was so worth it. Initially, it was a culture shock, something not in my vocabulary. But it was different, everyone was darker than I and looking at me. It’s not the first time- Mexico City was similar. I hit a restaurant upon arriving in El Centro to get a bit acclimated with my surroundings. Once I left the restaurant, I was good to go the rest of the day finishing it off with Ceviche and a Pisco Sour! I will definitely return to explore the city and country further!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This is the jumping off point for the glaciers but the city is just so friendly and warm that it was our favorite place on the trip. It has so much character and personality that I would have liked to just hang out for several days. We stayed at the best hostel ever (seriously) where the people greeted me as if I were family. It was cool to have the dogs follow us everywhere and no matter who we met, everyone was just wonderful! Did I mention it’s surrounded by snow covered mountains on a lake?

Why I want to go to this place

I went to the Glacier National Park in Argentina a couple weeks ago and I am very interested to see how this one will compare!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

This ended up being the highlight of our trip. The glacier (Perito Moreno) was just stunning. The trek we did on the glacier surpassed my wildest expectations and probably one of the best experiences of my life. I have seen glaciers before but this one was magnificient. I didn’t have time to see the others but you could also tour the other ones.

Iguassu Falls

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Brazil vs Argentina

We ended up going to both sides of the falls. Being from the US, you need a visa ($100). We got a bogus story that if we’re escorted by an Argentine for a few hours then it’s all ok. Well, when the border patrol came out, it was apparent that it was not all ok. We definitely sweated it out but were lucky enough not to be pulled over. If you’re from the US, get a visa or take your chances (although I don’t know the consequences if you’re caught).
Brazil is much more tourist-oriented which I don’t like. I am bitter against them because I feel Brazil doesn’t do much to conserve the environment and actually does things to harm it. Case in point, the Brazilian side has about 50 yds of trees wiped out for buses to run. The Argentinian side has this little train running with minimal trees removed (and probably more environmentally friendly in terms of pollution).
Ultimately, it is great to see both sides. It’s a shame to go all that way and only see only side. Make it a point to see both sides of the falls.

A tip I have about this place

BA doesn’t have a ton to see as a tourist but it’s the experience of the city that makes it worthwhile! I was unsure about it on day 1 but by the time I left, it was wonderful!! There are many cool neighborhoods to check out (like my hometown of Chicago!) and enjoyed what each one had to offer! What finally put it all together was a hostel called the Limehouse. The first couple were not so good but this one was clean, nice, fun, lots going on, and in the middle of everything!

Knoxville

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

It’s good to go to if you happen to be in the area. It’s not something you’d plan to do (unless you wanted to see a UT game). As the gentleman commented, nothing extraordinary about it but it was good to see it.

Rock City

A review of this place: Above the valley

I needed an hour to kill on my way to Knoxville so I stopped in. I wasn’t sure what to make of it and didn’t want to blow the money on something that was not worth it. I definitely thought it was worth it although it could be a bit cheaper. It would be a nice place to spend 2 or 3 hours at but since I had an hour, I pretty much flew through the place. It was not particularly sunny- actually it was practically raining- and it was still really beautiful.
