Peru, South America

Untitled

I have never felt so much love for a place before. It is as if Peru were my family or a close friend. Whenever I go I feel so lighthearted and happy the moment that my plane lands. I’m sure that most of this has to do with the fact that this is where I come from and where my family lives, but still, i have never been to a place with such a rich and inviting culture. Here in the states it is hard to find people as friendly as the Peruvians are. They are always so warm and welcoming; sometimes it’s hard to believe that their behavior isn’t just an act. Peru is by far my favorite place on the planet. No matter what part I’m in, I’m always enjoying myself. But I would have to say that one of my favorite places is San Roque, Surco. I know it sounds like an odd place to call one of your favorite places in a country where you’ll find Machu Picchu, the amazon, or the Nazca Lines, but for me San Roque is a place that I call home. A place where I feel more comfortable than anywhere else, even more comfortable than here in the states, which is where I’ve spent most of my life. This September I’ll be moving to Peru for at least a year & I’ll be living in San Roque. It isn’t exactly a tourist hot spot, but I highly reccomend taking just a few hours to visit if you really want to get a feel for true metropolitan Peruvian culture. So spend a few soles or centavos and hop on a micro or take a cab and get a less “touristy” view of modern Peruvian culture. :]

Berlin, Germany

Untitled

For the last yeaer, my family had a foreign exchange student from Berlin. She just left a week ago & i don’t know that it has ever been that hard for me to say goodbye. She became a part of our family and truly was like a sister. So i cannot wait for the day that I get to visit Berlin, so I can see my sister once again. :]
