I have lived near Chatswood for most of my life and over the years, have played spectator to Willoughby City Council’s never-ending creation of whimsical ideas and plans to cater to their ongoing desire to transform the suburb into the next ‘City’. Alas, Chatswood is, indeed, gradually morphing into a mini-city. Not one month passes where the suburb does not fall victim to construction or renovation work, and new shops seem to spring up everyday. Within the heart of the vicinity, Chatswood Interchange is undergoing redevelopment and the Library and Willoughby Town Hall have been demolished. By 2010, a new Library will be erected along with yet another shopping centre.
The population is increasing exponentially, not to mention the influx of residents of other North Shore suburbs visiting regularly. It’s packed mostly on Thursday nights, Fridays and Saturdays.
Having said all the above, it’s very convenient to live on the doorstep of a suburb where almost anything can be found or accessed.
