My girlfriend took us to Kamala Beach on Phuket for just over 2 weeks and it was awesome. So relaxing, the Thai are such kind people they just put you at ease. We also rode an elephant, saw a Muay Thai tournament and spent plenty of time on the beach. Really was a great trip.

You can get that you’ll have slow traffic either getting there or getting back, but it’s worth it either way. We drove in from San Francisco for the weekend and I learned to snowboard on the Saturday, then went out on my own on Sunday.

I’ve only been to the Heavenly resort (techically in Nevada), but there are some great slopes and I had a great time.

Tasmania is an amazing place – we drove from one side to the other and in the space of a few hours went from sunny, beautiful weather, to overcast, through rain, then sleet, then hail, and into snow. The island has stunning mountains, amazing beaches (although the water is very cold), and some awesome rivers and things in amongst it all.

It’s a long way out of the way, but it’s a truly beautiful place that I’d definitely recommend for a visit if you have the time/money/inclination.

A crazy, crazy town. Lots of fun to be had, and plenty of trouble to get into. Strip clubs, drinking, gambling – it’s got it all! :-P

Sausalito is a truly beautiful “coastal” town, with a real old-world feel. Would be an excellent spot to take a “special friend” for a day-trip from San Francisco.

I lived in Maui for a year, and I really didn’t like living there, because you don’t get enough of a chance to do all the cool things the island has to offer.

It’s a great place for a vacation – make sure you check out Iao Valley, Hana, the lava fields near La Perouse, Big Beach/Makena Beach, Lahaina, Kihei etc.

If you go around to Hana, go past it and around to the south side of the island to a place called the Infinity Pool – it’s truly amazing

I went to Minnesota to see my family for the first time, and was blown away by the size of the Mall of America. It’s ridiculous. I mean there’s an amusement park inside it… what the heck is that?

Winter is really cold, summer is hot and humid, but beautiful.

It may be a long way away from everything, but in Perth’s case, that’s kind of a good thing. It means there’s a lag where they (we, since I used to live there) get to see what works, and only use that. We get to see what doesn’t work, and avoid that as well. Perth is clean (pollution and garbage on the streets-wise), has amazing beaches, a pretty good nightlife if you know where to go, and some good tourist places like the Bell Tower, the Zoo and stuff like that.

San Francisco is such a fun town. There’s so many different things to do, from the ultra-cheesy tourist things, to the ultra-chic you-have-to-know-someone-to-be-here things. To round it out, 95% of the city’s cool night-spots are open to a pretty casual dress code (jeans are definitely your best friend), that you can get around without too much hassle.
