My girlfriend took us to Kamala Beach on Phuket for just over 2 weeks and it was awesome. So relaxing, the Thai are such kind people they just put you at ease. We also rode an elephant, saw a Muay Thai tournament and spent plenty of time on the beach. Really was a great trip.

You can get that you’ll have slow traffic either getting there or getting back, but it’s worth it either way. We drove in from San Francisco for the weekend and I learned to snowboard on the Saturday, then went out on my own on Sunday.
I’ve only been to the Heavenly resort (techically in Nevada), but there are some great slopes and I had a great time.
over 5 years agoTasmania is an amazing place – we drove from one side to the other and in the space of a few hours went from sunny, beautiful weather, to overcast, through rain, then sleet, then hail, and into snow. The island has stunning mountains, amazing beaches (although the water is very cold), and some awesome rivers and things in amongst it all.
It’s a long way out of the way, but it’s a truly beautiful place that I’d definitely recommend for a visit if you have the time/money/inclination.
