Fort Collins: Cow Town or Beer Town (or Beer Cow Town)? — 2 years ago
I liked Fort Collins a lot. When school is in session, there are a lot of frat-boy/sor-girl hijinks, but the town has a good character and the “old town” has some great locally-owned shops and restaurants. I especially liked The Walrus (ice cream) and The Silver Grill (food).
Also, of course, there are plenty of breweries in the area, including my favorite, New Belgium

Cool Ballard Coffeehouse — 3 years ago
Tiny coffee house in the Phinney/Ballard area, this place makes great coffee and has a great atmosphere. Bar seating inside, but it’s the nice outdoor sitting area that makes it cool, with iPod or KEXP piped in and lots of people-watching opportunities.
