Savannah

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

If you’re into ghost hunting, there are several haunted sights in Savannah (mainly in the historical district) & they’re sometimes featured on the Travel Channel. They also provide ghost tours of some areas, but you may want to skip that if you’re weak of heart. Savannah also has an awesome, rowdy St. Patrick’s Day celebration, so it’s worth a visit.

Cripple Creek

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Small town feel for casino

It’s a small town about an hour away from Colorado Springs. The drive is quite scenic, but I don’t recommend it for people who are scared of heights because the road up the mountain is steep & narrow with some areas without road guards. The town itself is small & seems like a mixture of old-fashioned casinos & the remnants of a mining town. The main road is where you’ll find most of the gambling spots, but the actual casinos are small with the exception of the Double Eagle (which may be the largest one there). It’s still worth a trip, if you want to experience different gambling atmospheres. There’s also a shuttle from CO Springs which will take you to Cripple Creek in case you don’t feel like driving. One way may be about $22, give or take. I’ve only taken the shuttle once & it was 2 years ago, so the prices may or may have not changed.

Yokosuka

(in Japan > Honshu > Kantō > Kanagawa)
How this place changed my life

Dad was stationed here for 10 long years & my youngest brother & husband was born there. We’d love to go back someday. Yokosuka’s definitely worth a visit, as long as you’re not afraid to try anything.

Foxwoods Resort Casino

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Probably the largest casino in the US that I’ve ever been to. It’s located in the lush green wilderness in the middle of nowhere, but the view is breathtaking. Also, there’s so much to do inside the casino (provided that you’re 21 & over) & they hold concerts & other events from time to time. Their international buffet is also worth checking out. In addition, there’s plenty of other restaurants located inside you can try, if waiting in the buffet line isn’t your thing.

Key West

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

Be careful on the drive down to the Keys from Miami. The lanes are narrow & the speed limit drops from different areas to the Keys. It takes roughly 3 hours from Miami to Key West, if you’re driving. It’s pretty scenic, so it’s really worth the drive.

Cainta

Worth visiting!

Roots

It’s my mom’s hometown & my birthplace. I was born in my grandmother’s house, so I still have this attachment to Cainta, even though I wasn’t raised there. I left when I was about 6 mos., but we often traveled there when my dad was stationed in Japan. I was also christened at Our Lady of Light church. My youngest brother was also christened there. I am extremely close to some of my cousins who still live there, so I would love to go back & see them someday.

New London

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

There was this awesome comic book store called “Sarge’s Comics” that was located in the small downtown part of New London. He carries an extensive collection of anime/manga & even lets your rent them for a bit. Not sure if he’s still there, but it’s worth a look!

How this place changed my life

It’s where I spent 10 consecutive, fun-filled, years of my life. I lived in Yokosuka Naval Base from age 3 to 13, so I’ve got plenty of memories to count on. I’ve met so many people and kept in touch with a handful. Also, my husband was born there & we’d both love to go back for a visit.
