Fort Stewart

A review of this place

Don’t get confused with Ft. Stewart & Hinesville, since they are separate locations. Ft. Stewart seems to be going through a renovation of certain parts of the base, so you’ll see structures being built in places that were empty before. Also, if you get a chance, visit the tree-lined pathways found near the golf course & parade field serving as a memorial for the fallen Ft. Stewart soldiers. There’s also a museum located on the base too, in case you’d like to know more about the history of the Rock of the Marne & other interesting bits.

Manitou Springs

A review of this place

Of all the years I’ve been here, today was the first time I’ve actually stopped by & walked around Manitou Springs. Headed to the Buffalo BBQ in Soda Springs Park just to see what was going on; live entertainment, food, & people just enjoying themselves is what I found in this area. It’s a nice detour from Colorado Springs & there are plenty of quirky, quaint shops in the historical area of town. Parking seems limited, but you’ll find some public parking lots where you can pay to leave your vehicle behind. OR, if you don’t mind walking, you can park a little bit on the outskirts of the historical district & walk a bit. Manitou Springs isn’t a large area, but it’s definitely worth a visit. The arcade & Navajo shop is worth a look, as well. Also, stop by & try some pizza or bbq from one of the local restaurants.

Larkspur

Why I want to go to this place

My co-workers & friends (who are locals) have been telling me about the Renaissance Festival in Larkspur, Colorado, but I’ve never been there. I’d like to attend it, just because it’s my last few weeks in Colorado. Also, Larkspur isn’t located too far from my area & it may be worth the drive.

I wonder if the food is good?

Cheyenne Mountain

A review of this place: Comfy shoes

Since it’s a zoo built on the side of a mountain, you MUST wear some decent shoes; no high-heels, but something comfortable. Why? You’ll be climbing uphill and downhill following different colored paths to see the various animals. There’s plenty of things for the children to do and also a petting area, so kids won’t get bored too easily. Also, there’s a trolley that travels around the zoo, in case you don’t feel like hiking up and down everywhere. It’s only a $1, but you can use it all day. Enjoy the views from up on the mountain side because you can see most of Colorado Springs that way. Price for adults is $12, but they offer military discount if you fall under that category. I’m not sure how much it costs for kids though.

Cavite

Why I want to go to this place

My husband’s parents are from this place (Tanza & Cavite City) & my father-in-law claims their family is descended from one of the 13 martyrs of Cavite. He’s probably just joking, but they do have a street in Cavite with the same last name as the family, so I may have to do some research. Also, my mother-in-law often tells me stories about her town, so I’d love to go & visit the extended family from there.

Niantic

Worth visiting!

Adrianna's Boutique

I bought my wedding gown from this boutique years ago, so I’m not sure if she’s still there. It brings back memories because I used to drive down to Niantic for my fittings. Driving anywhere in New England is beautiful and scenic, especially in the fall.

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

My brother & I took the scenic route to the resort & found the views to be amazing & gorgeous. I had never been snowboarding before, but after a nasty tumble down the hill, I nearly broke my ribs & shoulder. I wouldn’t mind going back for another try, but I think I’ll spend the extra bucks taking snowboarding lessons or stick to the bunny slopes!

University Of Tennessee At Chattanooga

Worth visiting!

Nationals for Latin

I went to the University for Nationals (Classical Latin League) years ago & I remember it was a beautiful campus. The dorm I stayed in was like a high rise-type building, but it was clean & offered great views of the surrounding areas.

St. Augustine

Worth visiting!

Romantic place

St. Augustine is definitely a place to go to for a weekend romantic get-away, especially if you need a break from the busy city life. It’s also a great place to take pictures (particularly Castillo de San Marcos) & to do a little ghost hunting! The historical area boasts a lot of quaint shops, where it’s closed off to traffic, so you can wander among the blocks without vehicle traffic. Also check out the bridge of lions!

South Beach

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

Was last year with my 2 younger brothers. It’s definitely a hip, trendy, & beautiful place. Also, if you sit around the outdoor bistros, it’s the perfect place to people watch because I guarantee you’ll see plenty of gorgeous bodies. Another thing: there are topless women at the beach, so be prepared to see boobs bouncing here & there!
