Kidd Valley

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Kool Kidd's

Kidd Valley started up about 25 years ago and is now owned by the local fish and chips chain – Ivar’s Seafood Bar. They have a great set of flame grilled burgers, cheese burgers and bacon cheese burgers made of premium beef, and a variety of other sandwiches. The Househusband usually gets the grilled chicken or grilled chicken club sandwich while I’m satisfying my burger craving. Kidd Valley really shines with their fries, onion rings, and my favorite – deep fried mushrooms which are delectable. They are also the only one of the small burger joints with a kid’s menu. They have a nice selection of milkshake flavors like boysenberry, banana and pineapple. The restaurant is comfortable, but parking always seems iffy.

Burgermaster

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: A Trip Back in Time

BurgerMaster’s greatest feature is its ambience. They are a drive-in with an exciting 50’s theme happening. The car hops send in the orders using PDA’s but the signs, décor and music is suited for a sock hop. We love going late at night, especially when it’s warm enough to leave the window rolled down so we can listen to the music and watch the car loads of teens meeting and eating. They stay open until midnight, 1:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The burgers are freshly made and sloppy with lettuce, tomato and sauce. They have a variety of grilled sandwiches and burgers – our favorite is the grilled Swiss cheese and crab. Be forewarned – it looks like nothing and then hits very heavily a half hour later so eat slowly.

Wibbley's

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Just Like Mom's

Wibbley’s is a mom and pop operation so the hours are limited – they close by 8:00 p.m., so get a move on! They make burgers and veggie burgers with several selections of cheeses and toppings. My favorite is the mushroom burger with blue cheese. It is exceptionally sloppy with all of the lettuce and tomato, but it tastes so good with all of those sautéed mushrooms and melted blue cheese. Be careful when ordering the fries—start with a half order because even that is a huge amount of substantially sized fries. The Househusband enjoys the battered fish and chips. Wibbley’s malts and shakes are too thick to drink so get a spoon to start. I often get their onion rings instead of the fries and I think their rings are tied for first place with FatBurger. Oh and by the way – best buns ever! They are substantial, but not too thick so they hold up to the ingredients, yet still fit

Fatburger

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Very Fat Burgers

FatBurger’s tagline is “The Last Great Hamburger Stand” and they really do have a great cooked to order patty, fresh condiments, superior bun, and exceptional add-ons. They started in California and have a few restaurants in the Seattle area. The Househusband usually orders the turkey burger and I order two of the Baby FatBurgers because they are the perfect size to hold. They have a unique way of wrapping the burgers so that half is in paper to hold cleanly and then they are wrapped again. They make fat fries and skinny – fat are best, but I also adore their onion rings. Signature toppings include chili, fried eggs and exceptionally delicious bacon. Our teen genius gets them loaded with everything at once.

A review of this place: excellent cheap food!

My husband can live on their shrimp fried rice. I love their tender steamed potstickers.

Copline is beautiful

The Compline service (9:30 pm (I think) on Sunday( is a beautiful, reflective time of prayer and worship. It is open to the public, features Gregorian chant, and is often followed by a pipe organ concert.

Kellogg's Cereal City USA

Worth visiting!

It's G - r-r-r-r-r-e-a-t-!

We happened to be visiting in Michigan for a couple of weeks when Cereal City had its grand opening so we made plans and drove down to see it, all sparkly and new. It was quite fun to see how cereal is made, look at the history and especially remenisce about all the cool toys we’d gotten in our cereal boxes over the years.
