Venezia, Veneto

More homeland

My grandfather was a Navy man back in the day, and c. 1958-1961 was stationed in Naples. I want to take my mom (and I guess my dad too, being her husband and all) on a trip to Italy so that she can re-visit where she spent a good bit of time as a tyke (and learned Italian too!), and then scoot on over to Venice before it sinks. This is a pressing travel agenda, as they say Venice probably won’t be around forever. Perhaps my friend stationed overseas can get a furlough and we can rendezvous in Venezia?

United Kingdom, Europe

homeland?

I always feel this need to establish my roots. I have extended (like, way extended) family somewhere in the UK, and I’m pretty sure that England is the mother country for my white-peoplage in the States. The brown-peoplage is, of course, indigenous American, otherwise known as Cherokee, possibly another tribe or two, too. That said, the brown-peoplage roots are all but dissolved, but I can still find my first cousins once removed (my mother’s first cousins, by way of her Uncle Freck and his British lady love), now can’t I?

New York City, New York State

Took me 21 years

It took me 21 years, but I managaed to finally make it to the “Big Apple.” Not as frightening as the folk down here would like you to think; maybe I wasn’t as intimidated as I should have been because I was with my boyfriend. I still haven’t been to Chelsea, the Lower East Side, Coney Island, any of the other boroughs, and lots of other neighborhoods in Manhattan. There’s a lot to see, and two of my three trips were only 3 days. I’ll tell you, though, I really want to live in Little Italy. How great would it be to walk on Mulberry to work every day?
