I’ve been here for a total of about 2 years, the weather is a bugger. The city itself is in a stage of transformation from a god-forsaken little town to what is envisioned as one of the great capitals of the world :) well, best luck.

Construction sites everywhere, mercilessly cold in the winter, dirty in spring and autumn, dusty in the summer. Windy all year around.

Sightseeing in the city itself is good for one day top. Nature around the city is appealing to people liking the steppe type of terrain.

I’ve lived in Almaty for 15 years. It former Soviet Union it used to be one of the greenest cities. Historical monuments’ not the strongest bet but a city you can enjoy. Did I mention the mountains?!

so rich culturally and historically, definitely one of the cities worth visiting

Studied in university and lived there for more than 10 years. Not as exciting as Istanbul and there’s no sea there but some historical places there and around.

No point going there for the sake of it but wirth seeing anyway.
