a few years back i took a trip to antigua, guatemala. the cobblestone streets, large beautiful wooden doors, and the view of lush, green mountains, made this trip worth taking. family is what guatemala is all about. when you drive up the sides of the bumpy mountains (usually on old busses, sometimes containing live animals,) you’ll see women carrying stacks of goods on their heads, and babies on their backs. like a cartoon, men are pulling donkeys carrying huge crates full of food, textiles, etc. did i mention that these women and men are no taller than 4-5 feet? they work from sun up to sun down, doing anything and everything to pull their weight for the good of the family<3
