Great Wall

(in China > Beijing)

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I climbed 1,615 steps!

...I don’t know how many it took to come down the other way, though.

Anyway, I am now a hero.

Bioluminescent Bay

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

The water is so much like what’s seen in Disney movies.

It’s…. strange.

South Africa

(in Africa)

Worth visiting!

I'm moving to Cape Town

There’s no question about it after money ends its role as an issue.

The savanna is a magical place. Cape Town is full of all the feelings you’re supposed to feel and all the people you’re supposed to meet.

Tokyo

(in Japan > Honshu > Kantō)

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Okay, no lie: the hostel I stayed at was behind an amusement park which was right next to a temple.

Seriously. [temple] -> [rides] -> [hostel]

Also, there are hip business men with razor-cut hair everywhere.

Why I want to go to this place

It looks like there’s so much to see and experience in that part of the country.

...even though the idea of the place scares me at times.

South Street

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

The TLA is a really cozy place to see shows. It’s not huge, and it’s pretty easy to get right up front.

There’s a nice second-hand bookstore.

Govinda’s Cafe is yummy, but quite a ways away from the rest of the South St. action.

There are tons of hipsters, or scenesters, or whatever you want to call them. Just don’t make eyecontact and you’ll be fine.

I find many of the stores there are a bit too overpriced.

Philadelphia

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

This place is about an hour or so away from me. I go there for shows and to visit friends, but I’m not the biggest fan.

There’s a lot of culture and some really great museums, but for how small it is, Philadelphia should not have such a terrible crime rate. They average a homicide per day almost. It’s saddening. There are some very, very bad parts of this city in which you do not want to get lost. Don’t get me wrong, I do recommend going; just make sure you’re in the cozy parts.

Also, South St. gets to seem pretty overrated if you’re not 15…

The Hostel In The Forest

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

It’s a pretty offbeat crowd of hippies, which is funny, considering the surrounding area is a truck stop, so, be prepared. You have to really look for the place. When we were there, there was a faded sign that just said “hostel” on the side of the road propped up against a tree.

I know many would be angry because there are only so few places to plug in a laptop and the showers are cold and outside. The treehouses are really nifty, though, and there’s a lot of forest to get lost in. Yoga, organic gardening, bonfires, drum circles, you name it….

Oh, but the treehouse rooms are screened in, so don’t go when it’s cold, or grab extra blankets. I was freezing.

Good place to make friends.

South Carolina

Not worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

Seriously, driving through parts of South Carolina gave me panic attacks.
