I think is the single most amazing thing that Southern Colorado has to offer. It is incredible the unfathomable amount of sand right up against the mountains – best time to go is in the spring, especially if the river is running – would strongly discourage going in July and August – it is just sand after all and it gets very hot. Be sure to bring lots of water if you are going to hike, and I would suggest a windbreaker too – that sand didn’t get there by itself

I lived there over 30 years before moving to Nebraska – it’s okay for a town of that size – can’t say I’d leave Nebraska to move back – the air is much cleaner here

Stay at the Carraige House B&B – authentic English tea – neat downtown area – cute movie theater – on my must see again list
