My opinion of Mexico has evolved. I just answered an email regarding someone’s questions regarding travel. I just wouldn’t go there—period! There are a lot of things we take for granted here in the United States. A youthful indiscretion here may mean imprisonment or death down there. Life is cheap, the legal system is a joke, and it is basically a failed state with narco-terrorism creating havoc. Why do so many of their people come here? Well, the obvious answer is that it is hell down there. Here’s something to read!

I had no idea what “old” was until I went to Europe. Spain helped to put that into perspective. This is a fantastic country where I lived for 9 months in the beautiful city of Barcelona. I didn’t find any anti-American bias that wasn’t easily overcome, the people were friendly and welcoming, and I loved learning the Spanish language. This place taught me how to relax and take it easy. We Americans sometime forget to slow down and Spain is a good place to find the right pace in life. Barcelona seemed a little more conservative compared to Madrid (I spent a month over there). If you want the night life and love to party, then Madrid would be the city for you. My only 2 regrets are that I didn’t keep a travel journal and that I haven’t been back since 1992!
