Taipei, Taiwan

I loved it. Period.

I went to Taipei (stayed there for 2 and half weeks) under Taiwan’s Loveboat program in 2005. It was great, but Taipei was just as special. Not only is it a magnificent experience to ride the world’s fastest elevator up the world’s tallest skyscraper, one can then view the entire city/landscape at the top of the skyscraper, Taipei 101.

The new MeiLiHua Shopping Centre boasts multiple floors of shopping, a movie theater, and a ferris wheel. I went there to buy my Harry Potter 5 book and watch War of the Worlds. It was great. Riding the ferris wheel is also a great experience!

But let’s not forget one of the most unique and special going-ons of Taiwan. The Night markets! The ShiLin night market, to be exact, located in the Jiantan District. From 7PM-11PM, hundreds and hundreds of vendors open up business for the natives and tourists. Opening it up at night allows the cooler night air to play a good part in shoppers’ moods, although you will never feel the coolness of the air. Thousands of people cram together in this densely inhabited market that it is still very hot! But I still love it! So many things are sold, although inexpensive and maybe fake, the items for sale are a great buy to bring back home. The food is native to the land and inexpensive, also. I always buy a 45RMB (1.5 dollars) chicken steak. I also found the best tasting milk tea I’ve ever had. Legend Tea Bar, situated in the ShiLin Night Market, sells 30RMB milktea beverages. It IS the best tasting milk tea out there, I swear! =]

I love DinTaiFeng. DinTaiFeng is the #1 XiaoLongBao maker in the world, rated by New York Times. The wait is long, but the wait is worth it! If you ever come to Taipei, be sure to come to DinTaiFeng and call for 3 orders of their Famous XiaoLongBao!

Actually I could go on forever about this grand city, but reading makes me tired! And I’m sure your tired of this already!! So, if you are thinking of going to Asia, stop by Taipei!
