There are two wine trails and two ways to go on a Napa wine tour. The first is to go on the main highway and pull into every large industrial winery (like Berringer) offereing free or inexpensive tastings. I call them industrial because they make an industry out of tourism and tastings. Coppola-Niebaum is the Disneyland of Napa.

The second is to make 2-3 appointments at the smaller, more exclusive wineries on Silverado trail at $20-$40 per tour and finish with a lunch or dinner at a fancy restaurant on the hill (Auberge du Soleil).

Both ways work – pick one wisely that best suits your style and budget.

True, Yard House has Stella Artois and Gulden Draak, and BJ’s will serve you a Duvel from a bottle, but Brussels Bistro is the only bona fide Belgian place with a variety of abbey ales on tap and an authentic Belgian menu.

Don’t miss Leffe – both blonde (pale) and brune (dark) are recommended, although I think the only have one of them.

The rest are worth trying, too – Maredsous, for one.

Food, in the best Belgian tradition, is heavy and mostly pricy. Chicken and mushroom filled crepes are cheaper than most entres and very filling.

Try to grab one of the three tables at the top of the stairs leading down into the cellar. That way you can people watch and kill two birds with one stone.

Steps away from the Financial District, it has numerous great restaurants and bars.

I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. Great decor ideas combining modern themes with traditional Italian hospitality. Best value in the area (when compared to The Keg and Bier Bistro).
