I went there about 25 years ago. It was a total trip. If I ever win the lottery I’m going to build a house that has staircases that lead nowhere and doors on upper floors that open outside to 30 foot drops.

worth visiting only because of the historical Free Speech Movement significance. Last I was there.. lotta skeezy street people.

Quite a few years ago I went to a smoke-in there. Lots of hippies hanging out smoking pot listening to live bands on a stage. Cops hanging out keeping the peace but not arresting anyone. Good time.

very cool anarchist hot dog shop. Just around the corner from (I think) Amoeba Records. Great dogs.

Tiny place. Basically a hole in the wall. But they have great pizza. Unleavened crust. Super thin. Buy two pieces and make a sandwich out of them. Yum. On Shattuck Ave, about a block from University Ave.

Had really long hair, beard, several earings in each ear. Walking around the downtown berkeley bart station. I think I was headed to Arinell’s for a slice. I see two frat boy types and one of them points at me and says “like that?” and the other one says “yeah, like that”. I think they were looking for hippie freaks.

dirty town full of scuzzy shops and maniac drivers.

.. so remote, cold and desolate is intriguing.

.. other than I love the blues.

.. drove here on a whim. Not much to see. If I happen to be in the area I might go back, but I’m no planning to go there.

.. if you’re going to Yellowstone NP. Good place to stay. Nearest entrance to Old Faithful.
