i didn’t know i was going… i lived in orlando for 3 years during that time my brother and sister-in-law came to visit we decided at the last minute to go on a road trip around florida. since i hadn’t toured the state i’d been living in for a 1 1/2 years i was pretty excited. well we went on the west coast of fl. and across the everglades then we decide to go to key largo. well- key largo really isn’t all that so we decided to keep on going. it kept get better and better and we started getting so excited. it was sooo beautiful the whole drive down. we stopped at beaches on the side of the road, we ate at restaurants looking out into the gulf. we didn’t really think we where going to go all the way down until we got half way there. then we where like hells yeah. so we stayed at a bed and breakfast. it was actually easter weekend. we rented scooters and it ended up being quite an memoriable trip.
then my girlfriends came a few months later and we went back.
i now live in new orleans, la and i have a trip planned for the end of may during memorial day weekend. with another group of friends. i can wait. love this place!!!

be careful when renting scooters/jeeps we had a few of us 2 scooter and one jeep to tour around the island. there was road construction and no sign and we all made a left turn. some how this was not allowed (there was absolutly no indication that it was an illegal move) we got pulled over it was saturday and the courthouse was closed they threatened us that they where going to take our passports. bottom line they wanted cash out. we paid them 45 bucks then we where on our way. besides that it’s pretty. the beach was breath taking. i was on a crappy cruise so i only spent 8 hours there.

i love this museum. it was amazing i didn’t want to leave.

always always always have toilet paper in you pocket, purse, backpack it doesn’t matter how you carry it just have it. the w/c’s are horrible!!! actually it was the worse i have ever experienced.
on the opposite side of the toilet- the food is awesome, i loved it. yummy. i encourage you to eat as many different things as you can. half the time i didn’t really know what i was eating, but it didn’t matter. the people are soooo nice. i had a really enjoyable time here. i spent a 17 days. went to the forbidden city (you can spend 2 months and still discover new things) and i went to summer palace. very intresting and so full of history. magical place. of course there is the negative i didn’t see the sun the whole time i was there the pollution was so terrible. and there is poverty, but that’s in any big city you go to.

it is pure beauty. the people have an appreciation for life, time, food, architecture…i can go on all day about the landscape, the history. everything about this place is rich. i studied here in the summer of 2000. i miss it everyday. i would love to retire here. drink wine and laugh till i die.
