Terraces of the Shrine of the Bab, Mount Carmel

Just took a friend to see it today.

Spent today showing a friend from Tel-Aviv all those Hifa attractoins she never saw- the Bahai Temple, ‘Vadi Nisnas’ and the old german colony (aka the templar colony). Had a wonderful day.

As for the Bahai Temple, we took the upper tour- going down from the top to the middle, and didn’t even had to do any arrangements- we just asked at the gate and they signed as up for the 3pm daily preschedualed english tour- only half an hour away.

When you read my recommendatoin bare in mind that I am a local (born and raised in Haifa), but i still have to say, ‘worth visiting!’

Tibet, Asia

Western Tibet- September/October 2005

I started my jurney into Tibet by hitch hicking from Kashgar (Xinjiang) to Ali in western tibet- an amaizing road in terms of scenery and birdlife, quite rough in terms of alltitude sickness, and hardly deserving its title ‘highway’.

From there I hitched to Derchen and did the 3 day trak around mount kailash , and a 6 day trak around lake mansarovar.

After that it was a long way on the nutorious southern route to the friendship highway, and another, final, 3 day trak to the chinese everest basecamp, before going to Lhasa.

From Lhasa I started the final stage of a long trip- 17 days on a bicycle, eating dirt all the way to Kathmandu :)

Overall, I had an fantastic month and a half of hitching, cycling and trakking in Tibet- a great, cheap way to see this amazing country, and possibly the best for direct contact with the people and the land.

Mount Kailash, Tibet

Amazing

This mountain is simply something else- geographicly (origin of four of the indian subcontinent biggest rivers), caluraly (a revered mountain and adobe of gods for both budhists and hinduists), and visualy.

Truely a place that I can not forget- this mountain stands out in the land of giants.
