I went here for a linguistics conference, and wasn’t expecting much because of Amsterdam’s seedy reputation. But I found it to be one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen! I could easily picture myself living here.

I found Köln a bit gloomy and depressing, but the Dom is amazing. You really have to see it in real life — not pictures. Also check out Cafe Reichard (I think …?) near the Domplatz for the BEST Sachertorte.
