I spent a good part of the day wandering around in here…. I love it… They had Degas! My favorite!

My man took me here yesterday for a late lunch. It was great. He had a veggie burger and I had the green thai noodles. They weren’t exceptional but they were good. Next time I think I will get a wrap or something. I did however enjoy the vegan raspberry chocolate bars and the hemp brownie that we had for desert. YUM! You’ve gotta try it.

i’ve been here quite a few times… the little guy i nanny for is a regular zoologist so he “gives me a tour of the place” as he likes to say. yes, he’s 4 going on 25. right now they have a african safari thing going on thats pretty cool. i was about two feet from a giraffe’s head… they have humongous eyes. unbelievable. anyway, they also have a actual functional farm there where you can pet goats, take them for walks on leashes, see cows getting milked (good thing for these city kids to experience)... my little guy looked strangely at the process like “i thought milk came from a carton”?!? stunned. they have carriage rides to and from the farm..also a hit. beware though! there are kisosks everywhere selling crap…literal crap. ice cream stands….EVERYWHERE. candy EVERYWHERE. pop..EVERYWHERE… do they hate us, the adults? they must. don’t they know how children act after ingesting a days worth of this garbage? ;) its an all around good time.

holy overload. even though i live near by and used to go on a regular basis… i still get lost. there is just too much stuff. its worth going just for the ‘ive been to MOA” factor but for real shopping NAH. wait, except fro METRO PARK… its a really hot store with really overpriced but very cool stuff. always worth a look.

the fine arts exhibit is always cool. its fun to see the local art. ususally pretty amazing. and who can turn down a deep fried milky way..OMG yuk.

the stained glass museum at navy pier is amazing.

probably the scariest plane experience ive ever had. the airport is in the center of mountains. the plane had to circle around at like a 45 degree angle about fifteen times to get low enough to land. besides being sick from all the spinning, it looked like the mountains were going to clip the wings on the plane. and let me tell you this was not a high quality plane…cracker box is the term that comes to mind. we stepped out of the plane and all i saw were AK-47s. every place in Nicaragua had men with AK-47s… folks, we aren’t in kansas anymore;)

as a child we drove nine hours in the back seat of a car to get to some god forsaken place in iowa. did i mention there was no AC and it was the middle of summer? not sure i could do that again. why would parents do this to their children?

my grandma and her family lived in Winnipeg so when my brother and i were younger they took us there to show us our “hertiage”. sounds like it would be lame but it was actually really cool. maybe i’m just a dorky kind of person whose into that stuff:O. Anyways, we went to the mint where the make all the money, the peace gardens, fort garry, the imax and touristy places like that as well as the house where my grandma grew up, the cottage they had on lake winnipeg, where she went to school….this was all when i was about 12 but i think i would like to go back to winnipeg now that im older and see the city.

the only reason that this places is remotely worth visiting is because my uncle lives here. as a general rule the rest of the city is pretty lame.
