Lovely town, great jazz festival
Perugia is a beautiful little town built into a mountain. I recommend going during the Umbria Jazz festival, which is one of the best festivals in Europe. It caters to a European clientele, so it has kind of that internationalized touristy feel, but it’s still pleasant and much less touristy than, say, Florence or Venice. It’s cheaper than those cities, too.

Spain's best wine country
The gorgeous region of La Rioja is wonderful for a peaceful vacation. The mountains are beautiful, the wineries are impressive, and the people are kind. It’s also not very touristy, so they’re not sick of visitors yet. I highly recommend it!
