but it was really beautiful. I took a wrong turn on my way to Illinois and got 40 miles off track. I took a detour through the forest, not realizing how completely isolated I would be, and running low on gas in my rental, and no cell phone service. Some day I’d like to go when I’m not in a panicked state of mind.

I haven’t heard the status of specific landmarks in N.O., but I’m sure Cafe Du Monde is in a terrible state. I’m not going to delete this goal because I believe in the strength of the good peeople of New Orleans, and I know they will rebuild someday. If I had the resources, I would go now to help in any way that I could.
