Washington is a beautiful state. There is a little bit of everything here. A wide variety of different attractions/things to do. I grew up in a small town between the Casecade foothills and the puget sound, right off of I-5. You can go to the Seattle metropolitan area, hop a ferry to the San Juans or other islands, drive to the peninsula and visit the rainforest and/or the ocean shores, go wine tasting, go boating on any of the numerous bodies of water, head east for camping and hiking, etc.

I went to Jamaica on a mission trip to teach bible study and “spread God’s word.” What I quickly realized is that Jamaicans are generally already very religious/spiritual people and that they really didn’t need bible study. What they needed was money, school supplies, school uniforms, health care, better law enforcement, etc., etc. I could go on and on. I felt silly putting my efforts into reinforcing their faith (which they already have plenty of in a variety of forms) when I could have been putting effort into organizing resources and whatnot.
Anyways, despite the widespread poverty it is a beautiful island and a beautiful culture. We went to Mo bay for a couple days while we were there. It was great. But, I strongly encourage people to check out the real island life/culture. Don’t just go wandering, of course…especially if you are white. Some of the natives (rasafarians) won’t recieve you very well.
