Boracay

Worth visiting!

Untitled

Have been there twice.

Although it has relatively nice beaches and the sea is not so
full of coral that you cannot swim, the thing that turns me off
about the place is as usual the people.

I know many people find the people of different places the appealing part of travelling, I’m just different.

Phillipine mindset messes up Boracay. Most of the places you can
stay are too expensive for inferior accommodation and service. They just don’t ‘get’ it like the Thai’s do, but then they also don’t purposefully extort you like the Thai’s do (but they will get there).

Walking on the beach is like swatting flies. Each day filled with a hundred people selling you boat rides, fake specs. fake watches and massages. Yeah, I’m one of the few who hates massages. Peak time is too overcrowded, too many boats, too many locals and it is as if they are trying to turn every little bit of beachfront into crappy accommodation spoiling the true beauty of the place.

One day I will try out Palawan, just hope they don’t spoil that one too before I get there.

Only briefly

I like the evening mist rolling in, but I hear people say you only enjoy that for about a week, then you are stuck with your neighbours who won’t greet you for 6 months because you’re not British.

Anyway, wouldn’t mind to go back.

My home country

Greatest place on earth, but unfortunately I value my life so I only visit it. Hear it is going better now, but time will tell.

Canada

Will this be my next home?

Currently I’m hoping it is a bigger, better New Zealand. Will it be my new home one day?

Small but interesting

Small, you can walk all over the place and quite a few interesting places to visit.

One caution, people here do not speak much english in general. So if you need to get somewhere in a taxi, you might want to have the address in chinese as they definitively cannot read english.

This place is alive and kicking

Hong Kong is truly a city that never sleeps. Interesting shops and lots to do.

But beware, the Chinese are rude in general, sometimes so much you just want to beat manners into them. Some however are the opposite, but rare.

Awesome nature

Went there in September so still some snow left.

On the way there you go through beautiful areas with water lakes so clear I once thought I was driving off a cliff!!!

Then you get to an area where you are driving high above a valley, followed by snow. A tunnel follows.

On the other side of the tunnel no more snow, driving down a winding road almost like in Amazing Race when they went into the Andes.

After that almost tropical forest with ferns all around and big trees.

And then you’re not even on the lakes yet.

Truly spectacular place.

Love the place

Been there twice for work.

Old buildings, boat rides, beautiful landscape, an amazing place to visit.

The people are equally amazing. Workers dilegently cleaned the snow of the road at 3AM in the morning, etc.

Don’t know if I would want to live in that weather permanently though.

Best in Asia I've seen so far

This is the best place in Asia to visit with kids.

Things just work, clean streets, organised public transport, people use their brains and they don’t express their bad manners in public (Spitting, etc).

Lots of things to do, parks, zoos. Shopping not that cheap unless you are interested in electronics.

Disney World opening soon...

Taking the kids while I’m wondering on where I will find myself
living and working in the near future.
