My parents moved to Singapore when I was 12, 1984. They stayed until 1987. I lived there from 1984-85 and the first half of 86. I have no idea how it’s changed since then. I did visit in 94 but even that is just a faded memory. Basically it was a shopping mall which we lived down the street from. My memories are the chickens the area between the houses (I think they were groups of 4?). The large drains. Getting my uniform for Dover Court. International School of Singapore. Michael Barnett. Lincoln Cole. Crashing the car. Getting chinese donuts. Kuay teow. The english pub. Trying to get comics so my collection wouldn’t die, and the second time there was actually a comic store.

Specifically Suwarrow. Just to live a quiet life.

Besides the fact I used to be a wildlife biologist, I read an article about Brian Fisher in a Discover magazine in the physio’s office. He setup a sampling grid and just went to all the places, irrespective of difficulty. An example is they got stuck, had to hike 6 km, cut down some trees so they could winch the truck 30 m, over and over again for 2 days until they got past it. Dedication.
