Glasgow

Worth visiting!

glasgae

i lived here for about a year and a half. it is cold cold cold! the scots are really friendly and the city interesting. glasgow has the second largest shopping area in the uk and surely they must have the most bars in the uk! you are spoilt for choice when it comes to going to a bar. there is much character in this city with it’s industrial past, evident sectariansim and ‘ned’ culture (http://www.glasgowsurvival.co.uk/). when the sun shines, this place is beautiful.

Paris

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: gay paris

as tacky as it may sound… i think paris is so very romantic. the atmosphere, the architecture, the cafes… it is beautiful! we walked and walked and walked soaking in all the city had to offer. i was fortunate and met friendly french people :)

Amsterdam

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: amsterdam

beautiful! i loved the cobble stoned roads, the very friendly people and the pastries… they are to die for! in spite of it’s lax laws on drugs and prostitution, i did not find the city sleazy or dangerous. perhaps the city’s charm of it’s canal’s, tree lined streets, people and architecture was much more prominent.

Tokyo

(in Japan > Honshu > Kantō)

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

i never had an interest in japan. then, i had to go for work. i spent a week in tokyo and absolutely loved it! it was very interesting… the culture, the places, the people. the contradiction of this city leaves you in awe. it really is quite crazy! their train system has to be one of , if not, THE most complicated train system i have experienced to date. shinjuku train station is the busiest train station in the world with more than 3 million people going through it per day. i had to use it almost everyday as i had to travel places by myself (my boss wasn’t going to babysit me). of course in all the madness, there is a system, as the japanese always have… there was a huge sense of accomplishment when i finally figured out the train system by the end of the week.

Hong Kong

(in China)

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

i went to hong kong just for the weekend and it was a company trip. i was really excited as it was one of the places i’ve been wanting to go to. however, it did not appeal to me as much as i thought it would. perhaps it was too short a time, or it was the people i was with. they are afterall, my colleagues. most of the trip was already pre planned. i’m not much of a shopping person, so, there didn’t seem much else. i guess coming from singapore, it didn’t seem that much different.

New York City

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: new york, new york!

new york is exactly like how it is on television! the sights and the sounds… people flagging taxis, smoke rising from the grates, times square, the traffic…

i was in new york by myself and was a bit apprehensive on going out alone at night as i had been warned of all sorts of crime. i finally decided that i couldn’t possibly stay in the hotel while the city is buzzing. i left the hotel with bag slung across my shoulder and tightly held in hand. as i walked the streets and started to take in my surroundings, i realised that i was being nervous for no reason. people were friendly… even daunting, huge african american men were nice.

Krabi

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

i went only for a weekend. and a weekend certainly is not enough! there are many activities such as rock climbing, scuba diving and snorkelling; all i would have liked to do but did not have the time. if you’re not into your sports, you can just laze around and soak up the beauty of your surroundings. i stayed at railey beach, which came highly recommended. from railey beach, it is easily accessible to the other islands like phi phi islands; activities are aplenty; stunning views and a great selection of bars to chill out at. krabi is a definite for beach lovers.
