Visited the famed Bonaventure Hotel last night for the first time as a date. Being the 4th of July, the rotating restaurant/lounge at on the top floor was the perfect vantage point to see fireworks exploding all across the city. The lounge itself feels fairly dated, playing top 40 hits circa 1989-93, although between the eyesore carpeting and light up martini glasses, they might be better of redecorating to the early 80’s and throwing some Nagel prints on the walls.

Still, the fantastic views of the city from this height do make it a rather pleasant place for a date. I wouldn’t stay at the hotel but the lounge gets a thumbs up.

One of the best bistros I’ve visted in the greater LA Metro area. Fantastic food yet fairly unpretentious, but charming atmosphere. Highly recommend, particularly their grits made with gruyere cheese for brunch!
