Haiti, Central America And The Caribbean

I’ll just say that it was odd for me reading about Haiti from “tourist” points of view. To see Labadee checked off as “that place Royal Carribean bought” when we know it to be one of our beaches, one of our best (or most touristy or something… correct me if i’m wrong, locals), and what was that about “I’ve been to that Royal Carribean thing so I’ve technically been to Haiti”…
All I have to say is that I’ve lived in Haiti all of my life although I spent most summers in Montreal or the US, and now I’m studying Montreal and it’s wonderful… But I miss Haiti sorely… Despite the problems, if I hadn’t invested so much in University I would go back in a heartbeat. Most of us, the collegiate diaspora, would.
I couldnt find the appropriate “kind of entry”, but all I really wanted to say is, despite the rampant working-class-and-lower poverty, the corruption and whatever else I’ve lived through, despite the media’s portrayal of the entire island based on the poorests of its cities, (Port-au-Prince, Petion-Ville, anyone?) *oh god do I miss Haiti. *
I want to go in December so bad but the ticket’s beyond my financial capabilities…
