First Avenue, Minneapolis

Historic music venue

This is Minneapolis’s legendary music joint. It’s where much of “Purple Rain” was filmed, and it’s where many huge bands have gotten their start. It’s also home to a smaller venue, 7th Street Entry.

Sylvania, Lucas County

Fun time, bland town

I spent the night here while attending a trivia tournament in Ann Arbor, MI. The trip was a lot of fun, and I didn’t mind staying in Sylvania, but I would have no reason to ever return to the town.

Old Depot Railroad Museum, Dassel

Today

I had the pleasure of exploring the Museum today. There is a seemingly endless collection of artifacts relating to Minnesota, midwestern, and U.S. railroad history. The museum itself is, literally, an old two-story depot, relocated from its original location in Cokato. Attached to the depot is a classic boxcar filled with even more artifacts. I’m not particularly interested in railroads or trains, but this museum kept me immensely engaged. I think it’s a Minnesota treasure. I strongly recommend visiting it if you’re in the area.
