We had been meeting on my roof on South 2nd Street but with the onset of cold we`ve moved in from the roof and are privileged to be allowed to meet at the Unpublished Underground (www.unpublishedunderground.com), the only gallery I`ve ever heard of that features writers instead of your typical visual artist. We currently meet Sundays btwn 4-7. 65 Hope Street. I also always supply free sangria!
All types come, all types welcome! I have been consistently surprised by new voices and new faces. Everyone is always a stranger but quickly becomes part of what is turning into a true community.
The format, though loosely structured usually involves banter and chat and questions and answers and stories – good people and good conversation – for the first part of the event. We finally get to reading and sharing our work during the final hour most days.
What would you like to accomplish with this type of gathering? Let us known and we will encourage it to happen!
Additionally – whether or not you can make it you should drop me a note. I will add you to the mailing list and remind you of upcoming events that include gallery openings and other interesting things in Williamsburg as well as poetry the group wants to share amongst itself.
