Great place (or starting point) for any number of activities: kite-flying, picnicking, bike riding, kayaking, jogging, photography, navel gazing, t’ai chi…

...I think it’s worth visiting. It can be a drag when the party crowds come in on the weekends, but it’s part of the urban experience. It’s great to be able to get an espresso or pastry at the cafe downstairs, or walk 5 minutes to the waterfront…I like being in the middle of the “action.” Plus I’m within stumbling distance from all the bars : )

...I’d skip it, there are plenty of other towns with that typical Southern character…

Not just the weather, but the people there as well…2nd on the comment about trying out the private rooms, but get as much info as possible before agreeing, especially regarding location. It seems compact, but there’s a lot of steep hills to navigate, which may be a problem if you’ve been out partying late : ) A big resort town, so the relative value isn’t as good as other cities, but still a beautiful place to visit.

...for exploring the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. Feels more Italian than Slavic, even has its own Roman ruin.

It’s a little gem of a city, with all the history you expect but not yet overrun with tourists…only a couple hours from Zagreb via train, doable as a side-trip between Budapest and Venice maybe…
