I helped rebuild in the Vietnamese area in Biloxi in 2006 for an alternative Spring Break. The people were friendly and I have the utmost respect for them. I want to go back and help, but unfortunately I can’t afford it right now.
over 5 years agoWe went to the island where they filmed Castaway and we had the opportunity to jump off the boat and swim ashore. Now I was thinking since I’ll never be here again I’ll do it and then I can say I did it. As soon as I jumped into the water I thought about sharks and I swear I almost had a heart attack. I’m panicing and swimming as fast as I can to shore. I have never been so terrified in all my life, but I’m glad I did it. I will never again swim in the open ocean, well at least not that far away from shore. The islands out there are beautiful and I’m not much of a beach person, but I would go back if I have the opportunity.
over 5 years agoIf you are on the North Island near Waitomo you have to go Blackwater Rafting. You rappel down into a cave and go spelunking and then fasten yourself to a zip line and zip through some of the cave and then jump into an underground river and go tubing. Then you get to go through a series of caves and basically it’s sweetas! It’s the only place in the world where you can do this so budget time and money to do this, you won’t regret it! Also, there is a nice little pub around the corner, so you can grab a drink after your adventures that day.
