I don’t quite understand all the hype surrounding Gray’s Papaya… the lines can be way longer than necessary. However, they are damn fine dogs. Taste kind of like the hot dogs you’d get at a state fair. Juicy, greasy and pretty much the perfect before/after food for a night of drinking. Wrapped up in tin foil and covering your hands in condiments, Gray’s Papaya is worth a visit, but don’t expect a beefy miracle.

Holy crap this place is amazing. The saltine/onion/hot mustard combo is insane and the beer is uncomplicated (light/dark) and incredibly drinkable (in large quantities). An amazing pre-game spot before going to a show or something. Last time I was there I absolutely had an Irish guy singing folk songs in my ear. It was kind of annoyingly awesome.

Crif Dogs is mostly about over-the-top hot dogs, like the breakfast dog which is covered in scrambled egg and cheese wrapped in bacon… try stepping to that with your gullet. I am more of a hot dog purist, but I would definitely stop in here instead of getting a dirty water dog on the LES. And they have beer.

Delicious American-style restaurant pub food including burgers, pizzas and the like plus the must-have Wisconsin fried cheese curd appetizer. Great views and generally attentive service. But the beer… try the sampler and get all eight microbeers on tap in little beer shot glasses. All their beers are good but the stouts and lagers are always awesome. A great place to go after a hike or for a night of eating and boozing. Growlers to go.

This place is actually called The Well.. but other than that your name does it justice. Absolutely awesome stuff for next to free, but only some of the time and then only if they’re open, which can be tricky timing if you’re breezing through town.

Arguably the best hot dog in NYC, definitely the most enjoyable place to eat one.

Now that’s a [slightly overrated and expensive] hot dog!
