Alaska, United States
marysalad asks,
“How cold can it get?”
It depends very much on when and where you go. I was in the Inside Passage for 10 days early last May, and it was bright and sunny every single day and really unseasonably warm. I had packed lots of long underwear and heavy sweaters, and I wound up walking around Ketchikan and Sitka in short sleeves because it was 70 F (that’s 70 above zero – seriously – it was bizarre). In that part of Alaska at that time of year it’s usually chilly and rainy – not bitterly cold, but you’d definitely want to have warm clothing and waterproof outerwear.
