AA Chinese Buffet

Worth visiting!

A tip I have about this place

This is a good place to eat if you are limited by lack of transportation. It’s a little greasier than some Asian food, but it is good.

I like to do take out here because the lunch menu is only $2.99 per pound which sure beats out grocery stores.

Peabody Museum Of Archaeology And Ethnology

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I was 10yrs old and I will never forget it. It was still at the old site. I remember walking around what seemed like a dark mysterious cave full of extinct cavemen and gigantic monsters. I was in awe. Indians and their beautiful artifacts. The Peabody is what opened my heart up for the ancient world, the the history of life and the mysteries of the minds of men.

I know nothing about the current museum and although I am sure it is quite wonderful I believe the original was truly magical.

Worth visiting!

HA HA HA

24 years ago at this very moment I was married in Vegas to the world’s biggest joke. Unfortuantly the joke was on me and I was the one who asked for it. Beware of Jokers in the deck…that means they don’t have a full one.

Westpark

Not worth visiting!

News about this place

The redeveloped Westpark is envisioned as an urban mixed-use, mixed-income, pedestrian oriented community. It will be characterized by a variety of types and styles of housing to meet the needs and range of income groups. The mix of incomes will help to de-concentrate poverty in Bremerton. Retail and commercial uses will accommodate some everyday shopping needs of residents and provide job opportunities. The amount and type of commercial uses will complement rather then compete with the adjacent commercial , Oyster Bay Neighborhood Center. The site will be sensitively designed to maintain significant open space and existing trees, to preserve and enhance views and to carefully manage storm water and other natural features.

Over the next five years BHA will undertake a comprehensive, phased redevelopment of the entire Westpark public housing site. The recently adopted preferred redevelopment plan (see plan) will further BHA’s mission and goals by eradicating an area of concentrated poverty and replacing it with new, mixed income, mixed housing development. upon completion only 250 public housing units will remain in the BHA portfolio. 60 units will be located within Firs II, a senior assisted living complex under construction at the northeast corner of the site in the area recently cleared through demolition. the remaining 190 public housing units will be distributed amongst the approximately 759 new dwellings to be constructed on site. Additionally, BHA will maintain ownership of the 110 apartment units that are also planned as part of the redevelopment. Ten of the apartments will be public housing units and the remainder will be affordable rental units. Therefore, BHA will be able to offer 250 public housing units and 100 affordable rental apartments to low income residents of the Bremerton area.

New Boston: The Kingdom of Innocence

Beyond yesterday lies the Lost Kingdom of Innocence: New Boston. My memories are cloudy, but my heart is clear, that the magic that was, always will be. The Kingdom of Innocence shall always reign if only in my heart.

In a faraway land, in a time long ago, there was a tiny kingdom known as New Boston. I was Queen of this wonderfully magical world for only a short time, but it was an experience that awakened my heart to the miracles of Life and Love. New Boston was a land of perpetual beginnings; a land of tomorrow’s dreams and yesterday’s triumphs. The gentlefolk of the kingdom thrived from the mystical life that enveloped them and children never knew of the Darkness that awaited them beyond the kingdom’s reach.

Nestled within the quiet mystery of the White Mountains, hidden deep in a blanket of red and gold autumn leaves, rests the small but infinitely grand Mystical Kingdom of New Boston. Darkness never engulfed the kingdom when I was queen. The Light of Innocence burned away all the iniquities. Shining brightly, the Light guided my way as a constant companion, shielding me from any Darkness hiding in the shadows.

The wooded hillsides are cool and inviting even during the hottest of days and yet there is a warmth that is given to anyone who seeks the sanctuary and quiet peacefulness the forest offers. As the canopy of leaves dance in the wind the sun’s light filters through to dance with their shadows on the soft moss covered stones. My greatest joy was to sit upon my granite ledge throne high above the valley, from there I could see rolling meadows of gold and green radiating out from my grand kingdom.

Winding through the heart of my realm flows a crystal clear river full of life and flowing with magic. The river is refreshed by spring rains and winter snows. A child understood the magic the river had to share could only be gained by valuing its beginning and end. The river never stops to see what the world has to offer, for it knows that life comes from within and only by following its course to the sea can the river’s water unite with its destiny.

Skirting the walls of my Kingdom was a quaint little orchard where there grew the largest sweetest juiciest apples ever created. I would sneak in to indulge in the forbidden fruit, stealing bites bursting with sweet nectar that awakened me to a world long ago forgotten. Grander than the fanciest of wines, the risk of capture was the price paid: from the fruits simplicity the true sweetness of Life could be released and enjoyed.

Twice a year the townspeople would gather together to celebrate the magic that the kingdom had to bestow. Fireworks and carnival rides helped to fill the kingdom with squeals of laughter and grand merriment. In royal procession the town folk would parade through the streets, singing and dancing to the music of the band. To magnify their joy, the people would create wonderful images of heroes and compatriots such as Puff the Magic Dragon and Captain Kangaroo. These counterpartswould float as if by magic past wide-eyed children and the proud citizens of my kingdom. The community bonded as they created these floats, each co-creator would instill their own spirits to unite with the magic they represented.

As I look back, remembering the beauty and mystery of my kingdom, I ponder, “Is the Magic still there? Or has it been swallowed up by the ugliness and darkness that awaited beyond its frontier.” I was the reigning Queen of this faraway land, no one knew of its miraculous spirit as much as I. Still it was torn away from me as a child from its mother’s breast as it grows: never again to return to the Innocence of yesterday.

Portsmouth

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

Rather the Last time I lived in Portsmouth

I lived in Portsmouth from 1967 when we moved there a month before my 7th birthday. Ten days before xmas in 1973, when I was 13 and in the 8th grade, we drove through the night to start a new life in Mississippi. I thought we were just going there on our way to Seattle, WA, but we stayed there for 5 yrs. Long enough to suck the life out of me that had been born and bred in New Hampshire. Growing up in Portsmouth I was a wandering curious and gregarious child. Living in the wonder of a 300yr old house and exploring the hills and dales of the beautiful world around me. I would follow the tracks into town so I could visit the fishermen on the piers and perhaps catch a fish or two myself. I would ride my bike to the city pool or go all out and ride it all the way to wallis sands, a beautiful little beach that has survived the tides of time.
