Northview

Worth visiting!

How things have changed

I grew up in the Northview District, when it was the “edge” of civilization: suburban housing developments fading into farmland. Well, most of the farms are long gone, and the district has grown drastically in population.

Many of my classmates have moved further out to Rockford, Caledonia, Ada, Lowell…I toured the high school and was pleased to see that it was still full of nice, intelligent and friendly people.

Gregory Heights

Worth visiting!

Wobbly Hill

This area was once called Wobbly Hill, as it was mostly populated by steelworkers from Harbor Island and the mills on the Duwamish. The Wobblies were unionized ironworkers…many of the small bungalows date from the 1910s-1920s.

The Tin Room Bar

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to locals

I friggin’ LOVE THIS BAR. The burgers: amazing. The drinks: made to order from scratch. The downside: everyone else has discovered it too!

Go, Dan! Nice job! Your bar is fantastic. My new favorite in all my many travels.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Great drinks, great food, waitresses you can’t take your eyes off of. A tad pricey, but a cool place to hang out after work.

Bison Creek Pizza

Not worth visiting!

High prices, average food

Paid nearly $40 for two large pizzas, and they were far inferior to your average RoundTable. Won’t go back.

Burien

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Burien: the new Fremont

When my wife first suggested we relocate to Burien, my first thought was, “Burien? Taquerias, pawn shops and car dealerships, right?” And when we moved here, it WAS those things, along with a great number of affordable homes dating from the 50s and 60s.

As of this year, all that’s changed. Old Burien has attracted a number of great restaurants, bars and shops all along SW 152nd.

THE TIN ROOM is an old tin shop turned into a very cool bar/restaurant. All the drinks are made from scratch, and the burgers are truly remarkable. Ask for a special order, and you’ll get it.

MICK KELLY’S IRISH PUB is a great new addition. Mick is evidently an Irish emigrant and not only is the food really good, the drinks are, too. Also some very good burgers. There’s a steady crowd here and lots of women, which is usually a good sign for a bar’s health.

THE MARK is a new restaurant that can seat quite a crowd. I’m seeing more and more folks hanging out there as news of the restaurant spreads.

Why I recommend this place to visitors

The folks who complain that they’re always disappointed…I wish I could relate, because I’ve always been extremely satisfied.

The spicy hashbrowns are the best I’ve had anywhere in the USA.

Lake Crescent

Worth visiting!

100 years of rugged, beautiful history.

I am incredibly blessed to be married to a woman who owns a home on Lake Crescent. Cold, clear, clean, full of fish, countless ducks and eagles. Jetskis are banned, thank God…now if we could only get people to chill with the motorboats…

Unspoilt America.

So much beauty and quiet. I could live here and be very happy.

Such a nice little fishing/logging town. People have always been pretty friendly.

Stop by Frugal’s for a greasy burger.
