Been here with my hubby. It was HUGE!!!!! My favorite part though was driving through the wooded areas and actually seeing Marines on training ops…..that was cool driving down the road with a tank!!

We go here about once a year and it’s usually as part of vacation. This year it’s for a conferance that I’m chairing a committee for, but the place we will be in is GORGEOUS so I’ll post lots of pics when I return.

It was well worth going to it. I was amazed at how quiet it was when we went….but I was glad it was. Very respectful.

For years I wore one of the POW/MIA bracelets that I had gotten at a Military surplus store as a teenager. My soldier had been lost on a re-con mission over Laos. I would like to do a fly over in a helicopter and drop a bouquet of flowers over his last known co-ordinates. Also though I would like to colect a bottle of soil from the area and bring it back to his family as a token of rememberance since he has yet to be recovered.

I L-O-V-E history and so this has been a place I’ve wanted to go for years. I’ve come close three times now but all three times I’ve been in DC we had an agenda and I haven’t made it yet. I will though, in time. I can’t wait. :)

My husband and I went here two Summers ago. It was hard…..the part that really brought me to my knees though was the room of shoes….....and the gestappo gate.
My advice….go there with somebody you can cry in front of and who won’t rush you through it. Also…..take Tylenol before you go because you will end up getting a headache just because of how deeply you feel the grief.
I highly recomend you go though because America needs to keep the images at the forefront of our memory lest we someday repeat it.

My husband and I went a few places on our honeymoon and Ashville was one of them. It’s GORGEOUS there. I also very highly recommend you take the drive from Cherokee, N.C. across the Blue Ridge Parkway and into Gatlinburg, TN. You will love it.

Oh my goodness……...what a thrill it would be to go where the air naturally smells like tropical flowers and you can hear the ocean almost everywhere you go. I want to collect a bottle of black sand myself to bring home and photograph tropical fish in their natural habitat. What a glorious vacation that would be.

I haven’t been yet. To be honest it’s because I haven’t gotten the courage to go yet.I remember evrything about that day…...and I hope I never forget them. I think it would do a dis-service to the memories of the victims If I forgot them. We live about an hour away in Ct and we had only been married a little over a month when it happened. I remember the eerie silence when there were no planes flying for those few days afterwards. I remember the trails of smoke clouds that formed a type of arial highway over our house for what seemed like forever. I even remember the faint smell of death. I will never forget them…...any of them.
So when I have gathered the courage to go without crumbling in grief….....then I will go.

Everybody always says the whole town smells like chocolate but when we went there it was a holiday so they were closed so nothing smelled like chocolate. :( I want to go back to see if it really does smell like chocolate though.
