Tin Shed Cafe

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: In a Word, Sensational.

I first heard about this place as a great place to bring your dog. This morning my dad and I visited, and even though I didn’t bring my beagle baby, we had a wonderful time. There was a wait, but it was worth it, and there was plenty of free coffee and tea to keep us warm as we waited. We were seated in the lovely side garden, and I had some ruby chai and the “Tim Curry,” a blend of tofu, avocados, onions, mushrooms and yellow coconut curry over baby spinach, and topped with peanuts and raisins. It was incredible! I usually leave something on my plate, but today I practically licked it clean. The fabulous meal, coupled with their infamous cheese grits, was just the perfect treat for a Saturday morning in Portland. If you’re a Northwesterner who likes the outdoors, meeting friendly people and dogs, and delicious organic foods, you MUST visit the Tin Shed Café!

Lucky Labrador

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I actually did see a tiny little black lab puppy during my first visit here. He was at the table next to mine and they let me pet him, and he jumped all over me and was very friendly and playful. It was awesome. And it’s a great brewpub with good food and beer. Viva Lucky Lab!

Aran Islands

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I was only able to visit the Islands for two days, on a trip with my American classmates whilst living and studying in Dublin in 2004. It is, hands-down, the most beautiful place I’ve visited. We stayed at Mainistir House on Inis Máan. The hikes and tours are all worthwhile, but for first-timers I would definitely recommend just taking the ferry out from Galway (West Coast of Ireland) and walking along the edges of Aran where the wool shops and little houses are. It’s quite literally a different world. And well worth visiting.
