Bend

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I went to Bend last summer to see the Summer Camp concert at the ampitheater there. The concert was amazing; they have a great outdoor venue there. The sound was great and the grass wasn’t burnt to a crisp in the middle of August.

We stayed at this hotel along the river and we could literally walk straight from our patio down to the water. It was beautiful.

And the shopping and food in downtown is really great too.

Hazel Dell: No It's Not A Town!

I honestly do not understand why people would consider Hazel Dell to be it’s own town; it’s right smack-dab in the middle of Voncouver, between downtown and Salmon Creek. There’s really not too much to see here, just bowling (Hazel Dell Lanes) and miniture golf (Steakburger), but it’s a pretty good place to live.

St. Honoré Boulangerie

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

They make a great sandwich. My favorite is the ham on french bread with a little lettuce and a creamy butter. It’s very simple, yet delicious. For dessert I enjoy the St. HonorĂ© pastery. It is almost as great as the sandwich. The bakery has great atmosphere, too. Just be careful to go when it’s not too busy.

Portland

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

Portland is my favorite city of all the ones I’ve been to in the U.S. Maybe because I’m a Portlander myself, but still.

Some places I’d recommend visiting in Portland:

Powell’s City of Books (downtown)—Hours of books
St. Honore’s Bakery (NW downtown)—Best sandwiche ever
American Dream Pizza (NE)—great pizza
La Buca (NE or NW)—great inexpensive italian
Buffalo Exchange (downtown)—great fashion, buy-sell-trade
Music Millenium (NW or NE)—my favorite place for albums
Crystal Ballroom (downtown)—great concert venue plus good resturant downstairs
Pearl District (downtown)—shopping is really great
Laurelwood Brewery & Pub—great french fries & I hear the beer’s pretty good too!
Ladd’s Addition—beautiful rose gardens & some cool coffee shops
The Gorge—gorgeous, scenic area with waterfalls & forests

Plus we have some really great parks, public transit (MAX is the was to go), beautiful neighborhoods and lots of quirky little places. And it’s not so big that it’s impersonal.

My favorite country. The cities are amazing, the country side is beautiful. The people are friendly, the government is sensible. Yep, I think it’s love.
