Uyanga

Apparently there’s some controversy about whether this is really the largest. It’s certainly large enough to please any visitor, and no ball of twine ever enjoyed a more picturesque, accessible setting.

It’s not just that it’s small. What bothered me about it is how lost it seems in the context of the big, busy city around as well as inside it. I didn’t get a sense of history there. I got a sense of cheap souvenirs and pecan rolls.

While I was living in Louisville I took the parents to this, as my stepfather is ex-military. I’m not an armor or cavalry buff, but I found it fascinating. There are many artifacts belonging to General Patton as well as displays about his career. I especially liked seeing the display of armored vehicles from both U.S. and opposing forces of 20th-century wars, accompanied by accurately uniformed mannequins. Well worth a visit for any history enthusiast!
