Great City

Great architectural buildings. Great parks. A small piece of Europe in Latin America. Great food, but make sure to eat something around 7pm, because locals won’t start dinning until 11pm. Great for shopping by concentrating on local designers and vintage furniture pieces.

Awesome nature

On the way to Whistler from Vancouver, I stopped at Lytton and spent few days at Kumchen WhiteWater rafting.
The natural beauty of the area is majestic and hope it stays that way.

great fresh food

the food here is amazing, especially the seafood. I have to go come back and experience its winter and try downhills.

Not worth visiting!

gloomy.

I visited once and spent few days. Some locals were full of themselves, downright racist, but with inferiority complex against the rest of north Europeans. Cared less for its greying narrow streets. Prefer chaotic streets of SOHO in Manhattan. Rather explore and spend time in other European cities.

Charming ancient city up in the hills

I spent one meager toursty day there. I definitely have to revisit Siena to better experience it.

Milano

Worth visiting!

Shopping Mecca...

had the misfortune of staying at the Four Season Hotel (Via Gesù bet/ v. Montenapoleone & v. della Spiga) in Aug’03 where I found its downstairs restaurant’s waistress and the manager to be inexcusably arrogant-pompous-jackasses. Waitress refused to take awa y the newspaper. I thought I was at a Minus Four Season. I’try staying at Bulgari nxt time. Otherwise, Milan was fun for value shopping during in August where everything was on big sale. You can I pick up great suits at ‘Corneliani’ in v. Montenapoleone. Get great shirts at any one of those dedicated shirt stores around the Duomo. Food is great anywhere in Italy. Milaneses are definitely well dressed bunch w/ fine aesthetic sense. Even ladies riding on scooters and bycicles looked “molto chic.” Any tips on great cigar lounges?

Tiny State, super-safe and clean (except for some uncurbed dog poos...

once or twice in a lifetime. Unless you are tax dodger and wants tax free haven. Pricey, touristy, and full of snobbish French staffs. Dog poos also, although much less than Nice. What’s up about not cleaning after your dog. It’s total display of dementia. Wouldn’t mind goig back to watch Formula One Grand Prix. Very safe city with guards everywhere. Bring lots of $$$$. It’s more expensive than Manhattan and Tokyo.

Manhattan

Worth visiting!

Capital of the World (for the time being...)

It’s noisy, it’s crowdy, the subway stations are hell-holes in the Summer, rents and Hotel room rates go up and up, but nothing beats NYC in diversity, culture and energy! Just come on down n enjoy the capital of the world. For inexpensive lodging at great location try YMCA, right by the Central Park West and Lincoln Center.

Must do:
*Eat soup-dumplings at ‘Joe’s Shanghai’ restaurant on Pehl Street, Chinatown
*Visit Museum of Nat History and Science, MOMA, Metropolitan Museum, Guggenheim, and Whitney, at least.
*Wander around back alleys of SOHO, NOHO, try street art scene at Chelsea’s art Gallery area.
*Wander around Central Park (it’s safe nowawadays) and go boat rowing, ice-skating at Woolman Rink in the winter.
*Take a Staten Island Ferry Boat (free round-trip) and see the Statue of Liberty, view skylines of Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey, and the bridges.
*Shop for bargains at the “Century 21” close-out store next to former World Trade Center or take a bus ride to (free ride) Woobury Commons, factory-outlets, 1 1/2 hr northwest of Manhattan. Great drive if rent a car and go via Palisades Parkway. It’s worth the car rental money if you share amongst friends and come back at your leisure time. Last free bus back to Manhattan leaves around 5pm.
*Smoke a great stogies at Club Macanudo on 26 East 63rd Street. Fine joint without the snob and snub. No blue jeans and snickers for both ladies n gents. Wednesdays, has great live latin music.
*see a Broadway show or off-Broadway shows. A must is classic events at Lincoln Center.
*for fun and great seafood, try ordering fresh oysters, shellfishes, fried chicken with honey, by sitting at the bar. You avoid the line and get great food. For more restaurant tips email me at sam@tablethotels.com
