Library Of Congress

Worth visiting!

Untitled

My brother works here, and gave us a private tour of the Library, taking us places the public doesn’t see. It was the high point of our trip.

Mothman Museum

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

This place isn’t a grandiose over-the-top museum. It is basically a long room in an old building with a collection of newspaper clippings, artwork, and movie paraphenalia (from The Mothman Prophecies), with a video room in the back.

However it is fun, if you are into stuff like this. You can easily kill an hour and buy a tee shirt. The owner of the museum, Jeff Wamsley, is the author of two Mothman books. My 10 year old loved it. Just outside and down the street from the muesum is a 10’ tall statue of the Mothman.

The Cotswold Way

What I want to do at this place

For the longest time, I’ve been wanting to satisfy my anglophilia by walking the Cotswold Way. Starting at Bath Abbey, by the Avon river, I would love to spend a couple of days seeing Bath, gearing up, maybe play some golf, and then head north on the trail which leads 102 miles to Chipping Campden.

I would like to take this at a leisurely pace, carrying only a day pack with camera, sketchbook, journal, snacks, water, etc. I want to take the time to explore and see what there is to see. I would plan my end points in pubs in quaint villages, staying in B&Bs, and maybe taking a day off now and again to explore a particularly interesting town. I am thinking 2 to 2 1/2 weeks for the whole trip.

Atlantic Beach

Worth visiting!

I used to live here

I lived here for about a year after I got married back in 1989. We rented a two bedroom condo with an ocean view, all utilities paid, for $400/month. I used to get up each morning and watch the dolphins swim down beach toward Fort Macon. I love this place. Leaving here was necessary for economic and familial reasons, but I still consider it one of my biggest mistakes. I dream of moving back here one day, to pick up my life where I left off.
