Pittsburgh, Allegheny County

Pittsburgh is my hometown. Pittsburgh is the type of city where, if you’re looking for a lot of highbrow entertainment, it might not interest you. However, if you’re looking for genuinely fun and nice people who like to have a good time, its wonderful. There is a lot to do and see in Pittsburgh – The Pittsburgh Zoo, the Carnegie Museums, the Science Center, Pittsburgh Children’s Museum, the inclines, the Gateway Clipper Fleet cruises on the river, shows in the theater district-Pittsburgh has it all. Its a great “small” large city, and its cleaner and easier to navigate than a lot of other cities I’ve been to. It has quite a few colleges downtown or in Oakland, which is one of my favorite areas of Pittsburgh, and they lend an atmosphere to it. I just love Pittsburgh so much, and I feel like everyone should try to stop there once just to see what it’s like.

Italy, Europe

Untitled

I went to Italy around four years ago during a two week trip, and it was my favorite stop. The vibe of Italy is amazing; everyone seems to take life at a slower pace—unless you’re driving in Rome, in which case, its like driving in NYC or D.C. on drugs. People were friendly, and every view was breathtaking when I was there, especially in the Tuscany region. We stopped in Florence and Assisi, which were my favorite stops. Although Rome was fun, those two cities were the embodiment of what I love about Italy. Florence is rich in culture and history, with gorgeous architecture and plenty to do in the city, but its not all about the hustle and bustle like Rome can be.

New Zealand, Australia/Oceania

Untitled

I’m going to Wellington to study abroad in two months, and I couldn’t be more excited. Every single thing I read about NZ makes it seem amazing; I haven’t met a person who has been there and not loved it. I’m studying at VUW, and my building is across the street from Parliament, which is every political science major’s dream.
