Tropicana Hana

Riverhead is a huge town, about an hour and a half away from NYC on the eastern end of LI. River head is small part rural farm, small part village/cityish, part ghetto, part along the peconic river. The tanger outlets are here (as is the ONLY PHOTOBOOTH on long island), so is splish splash the place where city kids go to ‘swim’, and so is ‘polish’ town (that was like post war polish, so all the polish people have been replaced with spanish lol and the signs are still in polish. Once a year they hold the polish festival here). The downtown part to riverhead is like a tiny city. The community college opened it’s culinary program in riverhead and I’ve heard great things about it. There are a lot of student-run places to eat since then. Never eat at Michael’s LOL, I mean it you’ll be poisoned after waiting for an hour to get service. Riverhead has a lot of ‘happenings’. The blues festival is held here every summer, it a great excuse to go out and walk around with drinks and listenin to crappy jimi hendrix and gratefull dead knock-offs. This was my dad’s first home when his family came here from europe, of course he lived in Polish Town ^_

Clearly I’ve been here a lot lol. It’s a really interesting town!

Plehhh try driving here in the summer time. There’s only one road out to the furthest most eastern point of long island, montauk highway. And after you spend hours in traffic just to get past the hamptons, it’s about another hour through the wilderness. I love montauk highway on a cold and cloudy day lol.

The waves here are larger than any other LI beaches. It’s kind of a surfer’s town (umm new york surfers lol). There’s a campground here, but you have to book your weekend in the summer like a year in advance O__o If you make it all the way out there, you have to do the horseback riding on the beach tour!!

Carrie Bradshaw cathes a movie here in the opening of the first episode of Sex and the City. If you love frnehc films you’ll love this place. Features french + foreign art house films.

Yayy Moe’s is amazing, it is the freshest mexican food I’ve ever had. I love ordering extra beans and cheese and jalepenos because they’ll give you anything. Okay so I never went to the one in Virginia… But there is one in savannah I go to all the time. They need one in New York!!!!!

Though New Jersey is WAAAAYY too cold for roller coasters and water rides! I love the coasters but was so cold all day. It took my dress the whole day to dry off from a log flume ride i was forced to go on in the morning. I’ll never do water rides ever again!!!

I used to LOVE the airport when I was younger. My dad worked with the airlines and we would fly places on standby so when we had a trip, we’d expect to wait around the airport for hours. I used to run around, read everything in the magazine shops, watch the airplanes and talk to people. It was something I did at least once a month.

Only now I’ve grown up and gotten jaded and I think airports are SO OBNOXIOUS and I HATE the nasty btchy people that work there and hate waiting for airplanes, and baggage, and weird random airport bums who try to hit on me, ect…. it’s all very nightmarish.

Aw his home is so precious, it still has the furniture and such, he was a really small man.

It was cool if you know monopoly – being on all those streets the game has. But it was exceptionally run down. Do people even swim in that water?? I was young so I basically just sat outside the casinos while my parents gambled a lot. I went back to school and told my friends it was Pimp city – because at night that is all there is. Pimps, hookers, and people gambling.

Well… it’s great for some funny photoshoots!! And it’s just always there. They start advertising for it in Virginia!! Sometimes you can’t avoid it….

The beach was not nice except for the chairs with umbrellas (you rent for 20 dollars and hour) the people are annoying, the best thing was my hotel room on the 43rd floor with a balcony.
